Created by Visa and MasterCard and established since 2008 in France, 3-D Secure concerns online payments. This protocol aims to secure credit card transactions on an e-commerce site or online store.

What is 3-D Secure payment?

The 3-D Secure is a strong authentication system used in Internet payments. More known via the logos "Verified by Visa" or "MasterCard SecureCode", this device enhances transaction security by confirming that the buyer is the owner of the credit card.

How is a 3-D Secure transaction going?

For any payment made via 3-D Secure the procedure is as follows:

  1. You confirm your order and are redirected to our bank's secure payment page SG.  SG uses the Worldline service provider (World Payments No. 1).
  2. You are asked to provide details of your credit card (number, cryptogram, date of validity, etc.)
  3. Additional Step Related to 3-D Secure:
  • Either You are then redirected to your bank's website via a new window. On the latter you are invited to authenticate to confirm the purchase, according to the procedure set up by the bank.
  • Either you receive a text message on your phone with a 6-digit code or more that you will need to enter on the secure payment page. Depending on the bank and the amount, you can then be redirected to the page of your bank that will ask you to enter the code you registered at them to validate the payment by CB
  1. The command is validated once authentication is confirmed.

What are the authentication modalities for the 3-D Secure?

This process of authentication of the cardholder is unique to each bank. However, it tends to formalize to facilitate its use. Now depus 2021 and DSP2 standard, the wearer must use a single-use code sent by email or SMS.
